My name is Erick Olsen, and I'm a woodworker. I make things from wood.
My journey in woodworking started many years ago, as it did with many in my generation - high school woodshop. I can't say why I was attracted to creating in wood, but, it just felt right. Perhaps it was watching over my father's shoulder on the many weekends working on DiY projects. 35+ years later and I'm still fascinated by using only my hands and tools to create functional pieces of furniture and accessories that will become a part of your life and home.
I'm not an "artist". I build pieces that serve a purpose, and which follow my design aesthetic, based heavily on Shaker design principles and historic pieces.
Whatever the ultimate goal of the piece, the process always starts with you. Your vision drives the definition, With any woodworking project, there are a myriad of choices including wood species, figure, finish, style, accents, where it will be placed, how it will be used. These can seem overwhelming. But through our discussions I'll try to capture what you want from the piece, translating your ideas and images into these design details. Together we'll review and refine these details until we achieve a design you'll love and treasure. Then, I get to building!
I create pieces you can enjoy for years to come. If you should ever encounter a design flaw or craftsmanship issue, I will repair it, period. I'm also available to answer any questions you may have on how to maintain the look of your pieces.
